Mission Programs
Reaching Our Home
The first level of missions is reaching where we live. EBC is continually working to find ways to engage our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We reach out through a variety of ways such as Lakeside Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, a partnership with the Union Mission, various local initiatives led by our Women on Mission as well as personal evangelism.
Reaching Our State
Our second level of outreach is to our state. Each week a portion of what we receive through tithes and offerings goes directly to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. This giving goes to support church planting efforts in our state as well as many other Gospel sharing initiatives. We also have periodic mission trips through our Baptist Men where we send teams to help areas that have been hit by disaster. These teams help provide an opportunity to share God’s love and His message of salvation.
Reaching Our Nation
Our third level of outreach is to our nation. We financially support missionaries in North America through our giving each week. Over the years we have worked and supported church planting efforts in cities such as New York City, New Orleans, and Washington D.C. We not only want to give, but we also want to go!
Reaching Our World
Our final level of outreach is to the nations of the world. At EBC, we do this in several ways. Check out some of the ways we are getting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world beyond us!
Mexico
In Mexico, we partner with Anthony and Melissa Conner in their work with an Indigenous and unreached people group in the south of the country. EBC sends a team each year to work with local pastors who are trying to reach their people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For the past nine years, we have helped these indigenous pastors reach their community through sports evangelism and children’s ministry. Each year our team will put on a sports clinic in the community to teach the children and youth basketball skills. They will also play a variety of games with the children throughout the week as well as hold youth meetings. These events enable the local pastors and Christian leaders to share the Gospel with these young people. Our teams also seek to reach out to the adults in the community in various ways. Through the consistent love we show in this faithful partnership, God has enabled us to develop a deep relationship with these communities and the opportunity to continue sharing Jesus Christ with this almost forgotten people group.
Ecuador
In Ecuador, EBC works with an Ecuadorian church to reach the Quichua people. The Quichua are the indigenous people of Ecuador scattered throughout the Andes mountains. There are hundreds of communities that have never heard the clear message of God’s plan of salvation. Currently EBC sends two teams a year to work with these faithful Christians to carry the Gospel to the Quichua people. One team is a youth team that works with adult leaders to help meet the everyday needs in Quichua communities. By serving these communities our team gains the opportunity to share and reinforce the Gospel message with the people living there. Our second team is a medical mission team. This team seeks to strengthen existing mission efforts among Quichua communities as well as opening the door to previously unreached communities by providing the critical need of medical care. By meeting the needs of the people who are physically sick, we are able to help them understand their spiritual sickness and the healing available through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. OCC’s goal is for every child in the world to receive one shoebox filled with gifts during their childhood. These shoeboxes are tangible demonstrations of God’s love. Their purpose is to create an opportunity for children around the world to hear of Good News of God’s love sent to them through His Son Jesus Christ. Not only do we pack a lot of shoeboxes at EBC, we also serve as a drop off point for our region! We have a monthly focus on OCC where we collect specific items to be used for packing shoeboxes in the Fall. OCC is just one of the many ways you can be part of reaching the nations with the Gospel at EBC!
The Southern Baptist Convention
A big part of Missions at EBC is our partnership with other Southern Baptist Churches. We faithfully give to what we call the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through our collective giving we are able to send missionaries to North America and places all over the world. Together we support over 3500 foreign missionaries and over 5200 domestic missionaries. By giving together, Southern Baptists are the largest missionary sending agency in the world! Here are some links where you can learn more! sbc.net namb.net imb.org
